I Wake Up for Make Up

“If Life throws shit at you, cover it up with GLITTER”, says our this beautiful super single mom client. Coming from Nainital to get this tattoo done from Artist Amritraj at Insane Tattoos, she narrated her positive motivating story, which made me pen it down for my new blog story after long.

Like it or not, everyone has an image in their head of what a single mom looks like; good, bad and in between. But to every single mom, she is a mom first despite what others think. She has little to no support and is often continuing the cycle of how she was raised.

Regardless of the details surrounding a single mother’s situation, she, like every mother, has hundreds of plates in the air at all times, and sometimes, they fall. That’s the reality. Going through a hell of depression, it took her almost 2 years to come out of it. But when she was at a start of  her life’s stability it was no looking back then.

She was always passionate about being the makeup artist. But coming from a small town with minimal respect to this field of work, she lacked the support of her family too. Years passed and with lots of difficulties coming through, it was those beauty products and the urge to use them on her sisters made her smile. On seeing their daughter coming out from that ugly depression zone, through her makeup passion, made them support to the fullest and live her dreams.

She say, “I showed up here by accident. Many of us did. As I said, most women don’t wake up one morning and say, “You know what I think would be fan-freakin-tastic!? To raise children on my own!” But, things happen and we end up in this place. We make the best of it. We work with what we have, we seek to make ourselves better, we sacrifice everything for our babies, and we do our best, every second of every day.”

She has been running her own makeup artistry business. It was exhilarating and challenging at the same time due lack of respect that people still don’t give to this field. And considers to be a below grade work. But she kept on. She say,” Being a freelance makeup artist gives me the freedom to be my own boss and have the flexibility to be a BIG part of my family’s life.  I always wanted my own business and I’m so grateful and happy that I’ve been able to make that dream a reality. I wake up every morning thanking God that I get to do what I love doing and I make a living out of it.”

Here’s what I think she looks like. In fact, here’s what I think single moms look like.

She looks like a damn hero. She’s beautiful. She’s brave. She’s strong.

She looks like a woman with wisdom in her eyes. Wisdom that was birthed through pain and fear and doubt and success. She looks tired. She questions every move she makes. She’s confident. She has child following her everywhere she goes,

She has a sparkle in her eye that can only come from the love of her child. She glows.

And so she decided to get her passion inked forever. Her story was so aspiring , Amritraj too designed it in just few friction of minutes and came up with this beautiful designing combining of beauty product and the a bird, symbolizing freedom.. Freedom to live her dreams, her life.

Thank you Avneet for sharing up with us your amazing journey and allowing me to write up with it. Thank you Amritraj for this master piece of work.
